Is it me, or did 24 hour jack up their membership fees? A 1 year prepaid single club membership is running $399?!?! That's ridiculous.

I know about the Costco deal, but I really don't need a 3 year (or 2 year membership). Even so, Costcos price is like $500 or something crazy.

I remember when I could pay $19.00 per month for 24hr. And 3 years ago I paid $199 for 1 year - what's going on?!

Check out rates on other fitness clubs, 24 hour isn't the only chain.

Chuze is $10 for basic access to the gym, $19.99 for access to classes/tanning/hydromassage.

It's basic, no pool or sauna, but all the equipment is there for those of us who just go to the gym to do cardio and lift weights

But yes, as Moved said, there's a ton of other options besides 24 Hour.

Nothing in PQ except 24 hr. I could pay $50/month for Frogs in CM - but that's too much for a gym membership imo

It looks like they vary by location.

I wonder why the price of membership at 24 hr doubled in 3 years? I would expect that from someplace like Disneyland, not 24 hr. I guess you gotta pay if you want to get huge

Maybe one reason is because they're open 24hours, and have to pay their staff. If they get paid night differential, it's more money per hour.

24 Hour Fitness charges based on the level of the location you join (Super Sport, Sport, etc.)

If it is a Super Sport location, which has basketball courts, racquet ball, indoor pool, sauna, free towels, etc, you pay more for your membership.

If it a Sport, or lower level location, you will pay less.

Your membership is only good for the location you join, and other equal or lower level locations.

A Sport level membership is not valid in a Super Sport location.

Be sure to factor in how much more you will spend in gas driving to other locations further away.

If you have to drive to a location 5 miles further, you may spend another $2 in gas every time you go.

Multiply $2 times 300 days (assuming you go frequently), and it will cost you an additional $600 per year for just the extra gas alone.
