My neighborhood even gets frosty mornings on occasion, yet I'll see those diehards waking their dogs with just track pants, a t shirt, and flip flops. It does get chilly at night here, but some people don't want to accept it! I don't own a real winter coat but do wear sweaters with a jacket.

After a few years you will start noticing the differences. Our first year out here we moved right after Thanksgiving and were cracking up (coming from the east coast) when we saw folks walking around in pea coats in December.
It was damp and cold that year (2004)...for SD.

So again its all relative based on experience.

True story: I played soccer in college and we had a guy that was from Trinidad that was on the team. Well we started training in late July and August and this dude was wearing a snowcap and mittens....in 80+ degree weather. He was used to 100+ with intense humidity.

Yup he eventually adjusted too
so true, I moved to SD just recently from the northeast, I wear my jacket and a scarf and get all warmed up at night here when its in mid 60s. I am already adjusted LOL

Winter Coats In San Diego-sandiegotemperatures.jpg

I went up to Morro Bay after Labor Day for a few days during the middle of that awful humid heat wave we had. It was was sunny with little fog or low clouds there, and not much above 70 in the afternoons, and dropped into the 50's by dawn. The locals thought it was uncomfortable and sticky but I enjoyed the weather there, when I got home not so much.

I've got a fair amount of cold weather gear since we got to Minnesota where my folks are fairly often. We also end up out in the desert which also gets cold at night...

Christmas time - we like to go to the either SD Bay or Oceanside Harbor for the boat light shows, it can be very, very cold down by the water in Dec at night...

I became a winter wuss in less than a year. I grew up where I'd be happy with the weather Dec-Feb if the temperature didn't have a - in front of it. Now 45 feels worse than -10 ever did.

Man, this weather has been so volatile lately. It was just in the 80s/90s a couple days ago and now it's cool and breezy out. There's a chance of showers this weekend, followed by highs back in in the 70s after that. Not sure if I should be driving with my sun visor up or down or now these days. Oh the humanity!
