I have a medium sized (18-20k gallons) swimming pool that is about 35 years old. This summer the plaster in the shallow end started to crack and in the last month has been chipping away. It is also discolored and whitewashed somewhat, but that doesnt bother me...it kind of looks nice. Its the cracking and chipping that is the problem.

I was at the Homeshow in Del Mar today and a pool guy said it would be about 5k for a refinish. Of course he wants to come out and do an estimate. The price seems low...I'm thinking it is possibly a bait and switch. Home and landscape contractors will pick your pocket if you let them.

Anybody have any experience with pool resurface before.

We re plastered our pool back in Texas. I don't remember it being too much more than that and we replaced all the coping and trim tiles,as well.
