That is very true. Though taking the car would still be too much of a mission for me. I'm starting to shift my views to finding a room at Imperial Beach area. Do you think many of the landlords will be fine if I pay for two months only?
Why did you select Imperial Beach? It is not an area that I would pick to live in.

Yeah I was kinda wondering the same thing . . . I don't really know IB well enough to comment . . .hopefully more knowledgeable people will chime in, but my impression is that it can be gritty (and not in an interesting way like MB/PB/OB) and the beach itself suffers water-quality issues due to occasional pollution plumes wafting north from TJ's sewer/stormwater outfalls . . .

IB is the cheapest place to live on the beach here but it's really a bad location as you have to drive to get any where interesting or enjoyable. Personally, I would have gone with a more central location but that's just me.

It is cheap for a reason.

Move to Pacific Beach. You will not regret it. That is where the majority of people in their 20's live. That and the gaslamp district is where the majority of the nightlife is concentrated. Downtown is great too but it is most likely out of your price range.

OP, this city has too many single dudes chasing pipe dreams of making it here. try miami, south florida and the panhandle area instead. here is a three word mantra for you: key west margaritaville

"Young, single and likes to mingle..."

Sir, you need to be in South Park or Golden Hill. Great, young vibe in those parts- a little hipster, but hey. You're hip. I'd suggest North Park- but rents seem to be on the way up with all the development over the past 7 years.

Also, you say you've an interest in Spanish- you may want to check out Barrio Logan/ Sherman Heights- vibrant, Mexican neighborhoods. Both after long periods of being depressed areas have show signs of life for creatives, technologists etc. You'd at least want to become familiar with those 'hoods, once you get settled in and maybe make some friends that can show you around.
