I guess SD drinking water is technically potable, but what do folks think of it? Are there some here who wouldn't drink it? How is it treated? With what chemicals, ozone, UV light? How does it rank on those city water drinking ratings? How many do bottled water all the time or filtered water? I hear human, animal sewage is treated back into circulation.

What were they thinking settling SD with all these canyons and lack of water.

Maybe the great one, Sassberto, can set up a poll.

San Diego's own treated sewage is not currently being recycled into the water supply, but technically we are drinking the treated sewage of every city that empties into the Colorado and Sacramento Rivers.

Our water is treated with ozone, and I believe it is treated with UV, but that might not be at every treatment plant.

What makes our water taste a bit 'odd' is the high concentration of dissolved minerals, and, during the summer there's a higher algae content than one might prefer in a blind taste test. However, that means our water is very Vegan-Friendly

San Diego water is actually better than bottled, only thing that tests have shown is that is a bit high in microscopic plant particles. . . Ranks high when compared with other cities (New York, Atlanta, San Francisco has best tap water, then SD )

San Diego water is horrendous. It's like drinking dirt. Your glass is left with a coating of white crust. We use a Brita tap filter which makes it drinkable.

Excellent question...I was wondering about that myself.

I use a Brita pitcher here in Sacramento -- it's easy enough to use. Figured I'd take it along with me once I head on down to SD.

(OMG, like "drinking dirt"?)

When I lived in NYC, I always drank the tap water -- unfiltered. Yup, it had high marks back then -- I 'spose it still does. (??)

(Never know what you're really getting in those bottled waters.)

I moved from Sac to SD and let me tell you, the water here down here is worse than Sac. I use to hate drinking from the tap in Sac but now I would not mind at all.

Not exactly scientific, but this is the only ranking I can find.

I, too, rarely drink from the tap. You gotta figure that our water comes from so far away, that the chances of crap getting in there are pretty high.
