Sucks the SAD effects you so much Olive. I moved here in June of 2013 from the armpit aka Fresno (actually Clovis), and I like it up here so far despite the cloudiness and rain. Its been unusually dry up here in the PNW this winter and we have been seeing the sun come out quite often. Ive actually have met and run into quite a few people who have relocated from San Diego and Socal in general. I guess me being indoors all the time anyway before moving up here made the transition up here seem seamless.

It does suck. I know it is cheaper for me to stay put but it's not worth being miserable. I've lived in PNW (Portland and Seattle) my entire life and I just can't handle it anymore.

I think you can justify it based on job opportunity. A co-worker of mine was working at a different company in AZ, was offered a position here in SD and his wife was able to get unemployment. I don't think it's necessary for an inter-company transfer but any job relocation.
