No marine layer, no protection from radiant heat coming through the house. Doesn't matter if its 1 mile from the coast or 20.

AC works great for days like this...or a pool

LOL, we moved from a house with central AC in the San Gabriel Valley to a condo with none near the beach in San Diego, figuring it would be fine. It was, until this summer. But, the difference in the electric bill is still very nice. I can handle fans and cold showers for a few days.

I'm worried that Monday we're going to have some blackouts. The electricity demand is going to be crazy that day. NBC news put "cooling" for the inland valleys for Tuesday - - at 94 degrees.

Yet how can I stay mad at Dagmar?

Haha yeah

We have friends down in OB and their house is brutal on days like this. Zero insulation and older single pane windows. Those windows turn into magnifying glasses for the sun.
The good news for them is that in the winter it heats up the house too.

Hopefully this heat wave wont be as bad as they are forecasting and folks stay hydrated out there especially at the beach. Definitely no hiking this afternoon at Mission Trails lol

Hopefully they can bear up. It's reached a whopping 81 there.

92 in my hood and the AC is going on soon.

I was in Point Loma earlier today. It was breezy and much cooler than central San Diego.

Wait...You're selling it because it has no a/c or it was already up for sale and there is no a/c during showings?

Just remember that within about six weeks, the high temps will be back into the upper 60s and low 70s inland. A heat wave will be temps in the 80s inland, and low temps will start to reach "chilly" stage. The countdown begins. :-)

Shmoov, those single-pane windows... oh my God. I moved earlier this year and am now in my first place with dual-pane windows. Why, whyyyyyy, do places still have single-pane? Multi-pane rules.
