Woke up to a gorgeous sight this morning! Clouds! Fog! Marine layer! I felt like going outside and yelling "IT'S CLOUDY! IT'S CLOUDY!" But then I'm sure my neighbors wouldn't appreciate it so much since I got up at 6 this morning.

The leader of religious education at my church has been here 50 years and has never seen heat like this before. He was pretty cranky about it, lol. This is unusual weather for here, especially the high humidity. If, as you say, it's like this for 2-3 months every year, then every San Diegan needs AC. 100 degree temps with dew points in the low 70's is too hot to go without any cooling. And I'm not some native weenie or whatever, I've lived in the south and midwest, so I know heat and humidity. This last week was brutal for anyone.

Surprise is more with the unusal, sustained high humidity, as extreme dryness (santa ana) typically centers on October.
yeah it was like walking around in a hot tub, literally.

Hah. I'm not actually surprised at all. Ever single year people talk about how the weather we're having (whether hot or cold, dry or rainy) is unlike any other year. We ALWAYS have a week or two when it's too hot/muggy to sleep, and it's usually in Late August/September.

We had the hottest summer on record a couple years ago, where it was 103 and muggy in north park for several days. It's all about perception.

I noticed that although the sun was out more this morning in East County, the air felt cooler out there. Now that I am in Mission Valley, the air is not hot, but there is some obvious humididity here and the air is not as refreshing as it was at home.

And according the weather channel the actual temp is 74 F in Lakeside and 78 F in SD which is odd for summer time.

Poway 76 F is cooler than La Jolla 78 F.
Escondido 78 F is currently on par with Oceanside 78 F
....according to weather channel website.

I think this summer has broken records though, that does seem like it places it out of the norm.

1984 was the hottest summer, but overall this year has been the warmest year on record just to this point.

It'll be getting worse. The Pacific has already warmed enough here that we're being subject to more and more tropical influences in the summer.
At this rate, in 20 years we'll be having an official Southern CA hurricane season.

It's still dark, but it appears to be raining in Bonita. I let my big dog out and he came in with wet paws and a wet coat. Our other dog, the little princess dog, refused to go out so I had to pitch him outside myself, and I felt a drizzly rain. But the radar shows nada.
