Look at it this way: If you run across one, more than likely it will be small. It won't eat much of you. Honest.

Vera Oliphant Survives Fall, 6 Rattlesnake Bites In Nest Near San Diego
I hike often and see them frequently just as I did last week at Crystal Cove, or on treks into Laguna Canyon or by the trail near my house. It is wise to have a hiking stick and pay very close attention to where you are stepping.

That story gave me the shivvers. I saw someone hiking while watching a flick on her phone on a Cystal Cove trail the entire time - not looking down. DUMB.

We have lived here for 2 years and have seen 3 on our very rural property. But in saying this, our son has seen just as many near his apt in Rancho Bernardo. If you plan on hiking or even spending time with your dog where Rattlers may be, you might want to speak to your Vet about the Rattlesnake Vac. Should your dog get bit, it will give your dog a greater chance to survive the bite.

A rattlesnake made its way into my living room once. I took sledge hammer and smashed its head into a chunky liquid. Not too smart of me though... the wood floor was greatly damaged. Maybe it was for the best... I was going to replace it with carpet soon anyways. I was getting annoyed with how often my wife complains that the floor was hurting her knees.

My friend in La a Mesa got robbed. So did someone I know in Rancho Bernardo.

The likelihood of seeing a rattlesnake in north park is pretty close to nil.

Hiking, depends on where and when you go. I've seen a couple this year including a pretty huge one out in Cuyamaca SP, but for the most part you hear them before you see them, or you only catch sight of them slithering away. I've been an avid hiker for decades here, and while I see at least a couple every spring out in the backcountry, they're really nothing to worry about so long as you pay a little attention. Snake bites are very rare

Yes, kids/20 somethings following the latest fashion trends are much akin to snakes.

Funny, just saw one (five footer at least) on Salt Creek golf course out by Otay lakes. It was not on the course per se, but off the tee box 5th hole. What did we do-We did what most men and young boys do when confronted with a problem you can't figure out...throw rock at it until it slithered away.
