Yes, I've looked on Yelp and Urban Spoon so have a few ideas, but would really like a few more. Would like to try and stay in the Point Loma/Mission Valley area for the most part.

Ready? Go!

Snooze

there's a nice fancier diner-looking place north up on the 101 (west side) that is different, better than Pipes.

I don't know what place you're referring to (sounds like you may be referring to St. Germains which recently closed), but for what it is (casual and cheap) it's hard to beat Pipes. I get that not everyone wants to eat on paper plates on an outdoor patio, but for pure deliciousness and a cheap price, it's Pipes. Keep it funky dude.

OP, Mission Valley area isn't going to have any "best" breakfast places. It's either hotel circle with all the hotel restaurants or shopping mall restaurants. I don't know Point Loma very well, but from the cricket sound in response to your query it may be that Point Loma doesn't have any "best" breakfast places either.

You may have to settle for "good enough". And most places can give you a "good enough" breakfast - it's difficult to ruin breakfast.

Very true, hard to screw up breakfast. Some are much better than others though. Always loved to stop at Ricky's in Hotel Circle for an apple pancake but I've heard they closed

When in that area, and if getting there early, go to the Big Kitchen in South Park. Blah blah, everyone already knows...Whoopie Goldberg was a waitress there before she got famous. And who doesn't love Whoopie Goldberg?

My colleagues and I eat breakfast in Mission Valley from time to time, my favorites are Mimi's Cafe and the Mission Valley Cafe. Both are good, nothing to rave about, but I am always satisfied after leaving these two places.

I do find myself in Point Loma/Mid-Way area alot but I can't think of a good breakfast spot, only lunch spots.

Wasn't there a place that was along the 8 and 5 freeway interchange, on the Old Town side, that had a banner that read for many years "Voted Best Breakfast in San Diego"?

If you are willing to deviate from Mission Valley a bit, there is a popular spot called Hash House a Go Go on 5th street in Hillcrest. Now that place is awesome.

When all else fails, there is always the Mission Valley IHOP where the deer broke in through the window and caused a raucous .

In Point Loma, Broken Yolk is not bad for a full breakfast.......for just coffee and a pastry, you can check out Con Pane at Liberty Station (great scones, chocolate brioche, and cinnamon buns) and Red's (good muffins),
