Are you sure? Because it sounded like what you mean to say was "… people like you irritate people like me."

Right?

If your LA office is anywhere near Union Station or along the Metro Red/Purple Line, I'd also seriously consider Metrolink from the Santa Ana station.

Also - not sure the business you are in, where you are career-wise etc. - but I'd say an LA-base is better for long-term career prospects . . unless you are involved in software or something where it really doesn't matter what city you are in, the LA market has much more opportunity than the relatively small SD market.
All of these are very good points, especially the LA market being better for most careers.

To the OP:
Are you living in Santa Ana (or around that part of OC) for sure?
Is the pay the same at both the SD and LA offices?

Thank you for knowing LA and its people so well.

Generally, LA metro has better long term job opps but is decidedly less desirable place to live. If you are working in Santa Ana, I would look at the northern edge of South OC, i.e. Lake Forest. If the job is in LA proper, the traffic situation is so acute that you want to live very close to your work.

I use to visit LA every weekend. Not anymore. The traffic is just unbearable. It seems like it doubles every 10 years. OC is not at that point yet but as more people move there it will

I have clients in LA (el segundo and warner center) and I can fly to many places in the country faster than I can drive to the client site. My clients in OC (Irvine area) are a breeze.
