I'm starting a new job in Carlsbad but I live in Pacific Beach. What is the traffic flow like on the 5N in the mornings?

I did this commute for 7 years (Used to live on Chalcedony).

it isn't bad like 5S. The worst part is getting on the freeway and out of PB. I'd take the backstreets to Bluffside and enter with a left turn at the light instead of Mission Bay Drive.

Once you get going, its about 30 minutes. I miss living down south!

Where in Carlsbad are you commuting to? Faraday area?

I used to drive that route. If you are in the crown point area then you may want to head south on 5 to go north. I used to go one exit south then get off and back on 5 north. It used to save about 10-12 minutes. plan on a 25-25 minute commute.

Coming home will be a different story, and on Fridays in the summer during the fair and race track...fuhgeddaboutit. It took me 1-1.5hrs to get home on Fridays. But its worth it if the job is right

hope this helps
