Hello all!

As some of you may know from my previous posts, I am planning on moving to SD this spring after I graduate. I have not recently been to SD (I last was there in 2001) and my friends and I plan on taking a trip there before I move. We will be driving out to SD from Phoenix on Sat feb 16th, we plan on leaving early and we hope to get to SD by 2pm. We will be returning home Mon 18, leaving SD around 4pm so we don't have a very long time to spend there. We will really only have sat afternoon, all day sunday and monday morning. I am trying to find out what areas I should look into for work and living. I'd like to check out some apt complexes, my top rent range is 1400, I would like to be somewhere safe, near nightlife and near the beach if possible. Also, can anyone recommend some busy, fun restaurants and resorts where I might look for a job, (Im currently a server). I would like to look into the del mar/encinitas/la jolla area, but I don't know if my budget will alow it. Also what areas should I look to book a hotel in? I don't want my car to get jacked or anything Lastly, can anyone recommend some fun bars or clubs or places to hang out on Sat night my friends and I are all over 21 and would like to go out somewhere fun. Thanks for all the advice!

You can find 1 bedroom apartments in Pacific Beach, Mission Bay area in your price range. Check out Apartments for Rent and Homes for Rent and also craigslist.

Visit Jobing.com - Go Local to search out jobs.

The Gaslamp District in downtown San Diego is known for its nightclubs. You will find more casual, laid back clubs in Pacific Beach.

You might be able to get something in La Jolla in your price range, you're only a little below the average there. That's safe, pretty, and yet also close to the beach and nightlife.

If you really like noisy all night parties you might as well try out Pacific Beach or one of the other SD beach areas.

Gaslamp is nice and it's fun, but if you can afford to be near a beach I think you should go for it. It's not all that easy or quick to get to the beaches from there.

Don't forget to ask how much parking costs at the various apartment complexes you check out.

In addition to being fun to visit, I would think that the Gaslamp Quarter would be a great area to work, for someone in the restaurant biz. We were there last year, and I remember some discussion in the newspaper about an overbuilt condo market? Perhaps there are some rental bargains for condos....
