Hi everyone, I'm moving to San Diego in a few months. I'm 29, single, no pets and won't know anyone out there and hoping to change that soon. I will be doing a job transfer and will have a good amount of money saved up. I will be working close to the Westfield Plaza Bonita mall in National City. I would like to get recommendations for a 1bed/bath apartment with a 1 car garage. My main requirements are no more than $1300, of course the less the better, has to be a nice safe area I don't want to be in a ghetto unsafe area. Preferably within a 15-30 minute commute but would prefer as close as possible to work. Also, I must have a 1 car garage. Close to freeways would help I suppose. I like to walk and run, and enjoy outdoor activities and restaurants. I'm not into the club scene and I'm not into partying anymore, of course a night out once in a while is cool. I hope I can find people my age wherever I end up. Thanks in advance for your help!

Check out Craigslist for 1br/1ba w/garages in your price range and post them here for comments.

Hi moved thanks for the advice, I have already checked out craigslist but I was mainly looking for advice from people who rent in the area and can recommend a specific apartment or condo as I don't know which apartments are actually good, and which ones I should avoid. If it costs the same I would rather rent a small house too. Does anyone know the Bonita area? I was in San Diego a week ago and happened to drive by that area and as its name suggests it was quite beautiful. This area would be very close to work. Any thoughts anyone?

You're not going to find a house with or without a garage for $1300. Maybe an apartment, but you may have to forego the garage. What area of San Diego will you be working in? That may influence your decision about where to live.

I will be working about 5 -10 minutes east of Westfield Plaza Bonita. I would have to have a garage unless I sold my car which I don't want to do at the moment. An apartment is fine for me. Anyone have any experience with renting an apartment with a garage in that area? Or at least a good parking garage or storage unit separate from the apartment? What about this place?PLAZA BONITA 3 BLOCKS AWAY- HOUSE FOR RENT
I could up my budget to get something like this although I don't need 3 bedrooms jut one.

Why do you need a garage? I've never had one, always parked on the street, and never had a problem. If I did have one, I wouldn't park my van inside of it, I'd use it for storage.

I live on the San Diego/National City border, but I'm not familiar with that part of National City.

I need a garage because I have a somewhat classic car that appreciates in value. I would not park it on the street. On the other hand I could care less about my daily driver car.

Thanks, I'm sure I can stay anywhere within a 5 mile radius or 15 minute drive from work, just want to know of a good place.
