I've had a vehicle that I don't recognize parking near my home for some time now. The area they park has no homes around the street so I've become familiar with the vehicles that do park there. I thought they might have been a visitor to one of my nearby neighbors but today I witnessed them drive up then sit inside the vehicle for a half hour before leaving a huge pile of trash on the street after they drove off. This makes me believe they are just some kids using that area as a hang out spot. I still don't understand the times that the vehicle is left there overnight, sometimes for over 8 hours, which seems unlikely that they would be sitting in there for that long. I reported the incident to my local police to create a paper trail and plan on calling out an officer the next time they show up simply due to them making the poor decision to throw their trash onto what was a very clean street. Anyone else deal with such a situation and what was your experience with having your local police intervene?

Yup.
Usually if someone is in it, they are likely casing.

Just keep observing and make sure PD knows. It's most likely occupied, stolen, or both

Could be they are just part of the homeless population. Living in junker cars and RV's. Moving around to avoid extended parking citations. They like to park adjacent to vacant lots. It's their makeshift bathroom.

Make sure you have Make and license #. We had a vehicle park on our deadend street a few years ago. It was a spot no one ever parked. I called the police ...they came right out..turned out the car was stolen and abandoned.

Certainly call the cops. I've done that, and seen the cops roust people and told them to move along. We pay taxes for a reason.

It's one thing to have someone homeless living on your street, quite another if it's some slob who just tosses trash out the window. I'd save the trash and toss it in their car the next time they stop there. And, yes, I have done that before.
