Currently staying in La Mesa. Will be here for a few months for work. The only things that I truly love in life are wine, good coffee, and a decent breakfast. I've got the wine. But I'm having trouble finding a good coffee shop close to me. Or in San Diego in general. I guess ive just been picking the wrong places. I'm not a Starbucks fan. I'm fond of Black Rock and Dutch Brothers (Portland) . I don't like that bitter European type coffee. As for breakfast I've had equally bad luck. Went to a place today that was supposed to have the best omelets and not only sent it back (I've never done that before in my life), but became so nauseous I couldn't eat anything to several hours after taking just one bite of it. So please, any suggestions would be great, even if it would mean a little drive to get there.

My best suggestion is to learn what you like by way of coffee and make it happen for yourself. Same for breakfast ... learn what you like and make it happen for yourself.

You sound like you're high-maintenance. That's entirely OK. But to get exactly what you want ... create it for yourself.

I've always thought McDonald's had good coffee. 7/11 as well.

The coffee Bean in Parkway Plaza Mall.
I stop by this location almost every Saturday morning and i have never had a bad cup.
As For Eggs I usually frequent, The Trails Neighborhood Eatery in San Carlos For Breakfast. The best, but cheap and close.
If you're willing to Travel, some of the best eggs Ive had have been @
Fig Tree cafe
R-Gang Eatery
Hash house A Go Go

For breakfast, my wife and I like this place:

La Mesa Bistro & Bakery

8697 La Mesa Blvd

I really hope it's NOT the place that poisoned you!

Coffee . . .I can't help you . . . I happen to like bitter European coffee . . .

No Problem!
The lady that owns the restaurant has been on numerous big time cooking shows.
Glad you enjoy it
