I'm moving to SD in sept. I've been having a hard time trying to find a decent job. I have been a massage therapist for the past 7 years. I'm looking at doing something elce due to the rate of pay, it won't be enough to live off of in SD. Because of health issues I have to have benefits, I'm going to find a job before I move but have been having a hard time as everything requires a BA. Does anyone know of any decent companies to work for?

You asked the same question in the Work and Employment forum last year.

why are you moving to one of the most expensive cities in the country? Please don't take this personally, as I would say this to anyone with a similar post, but if you can't afford it, then do yourself a favor and don't move here. And, also to point, massage therapists are a dime and dozen here.

I have to agree with loveautumn about massage therapists, as there are places everywhere. I imagine that you don't make as much money if you are working at one of the big places, but on the other hand it would take time to build up clientele for your own business. Either way, it would be difficult to make a living here unless you had someone to share living expenses with and you have a job lined up.

You asked about knowing places to work for - the massage therapist we use has her own business and comes to our home. She specializes in clients with chronic illness. We have had some nice conversations during sessions, and she said she could not afford to live off her income alone - her hubby is the breadwinner.

Not trying to sound discouraging, just giving you feedback. Anyone that wants to make their dream come true can do it no matter where they are - just need the drive and discipline.
