I may take a job in SD, and the base salary they are offering me $15 and some change, with OT opportunities. Would that be livable in SD? If so what areas should I check out for a studio apartment?

Where is the job located? San Diego county is huge, so to give you the best recommendations it would help to know which area the job would be in.

Also, will you have a car? Will you have anyone to share expenses with?

Where in SD is your job? That will determine where you will live. Do you have a car?

Sorry, that's right, the job is at San Diego airport. I do have a place to crash for a couple of weeks if I have to and I do have a vehicle that is paid off, but it is a gas guzzler. (2001 Wrangler)

I think your next step would be to figure out what you would feel comfortable spending on rent. There are sites that you can put in your criteria, (amount of rent, studio, etc.) and it will give you some results. You'll also need to factor in the costs to get out here. I remember you had posted elsewhere that you are in FL right now, right? It will not be cheap to get out here. You will want to have some money saved.

Live downtown and get a place with roommates or find a cheap studio and you can make it

Thanks, I am mostly looking into the studio for now. I would go the roommate route again, but you do get to the point when you do not want to deal with that. As for moving, thankfully I do not have much stuff, just thousands of movies, computers, and some clothes, and I do have some cash reserves.

I don't think cheap studio and downtown go together.
