I don't know anything about Santaluz other than what earlyretirement touted about it online two years ago, but I can assure you it is nothing like Playas de Tijuana. No neighborhood in SD is similar to Playas in the slightest, and that could be a good or bad thing depending on your preference.

As Encinitan said, a masterplanned community for a single guy is not going to happen anywhere. We call them condominiums.

La Playa is a great area. Just stay off of Rosecrans. It's a very busy road.
