I'm just wondering if it's as common as in DTLA.

Also why is it DTSD as if downtown is two word? Shouldn't it be DLA and DSD?

Never heard it. It's just downtown to me.

The only local common place acronyms that I know of are; OB, PB and IB, (and RB), but never MB.

Probably given by the same folks who call California...."Cali".

Tourists and transplants, man.

I've lived here over 30 years, and never heard DTSD. Also never heard DTLA.

Never heard of DTSD. Why not just say SD?

No, and its too late to start it because it would just be copying DTLA.

Of all the urban things that San Diego lags behind Los Angeles, downtown is the one thing SD has over LA(for now and probably not much longer). In fact, I'm pretty sure "DTLA" was coined as part of the revitalization effort for the stagnating downtown.
