$300/month seems a bit much, though I don't know what that covers.

If you go up to the UTC area, there's always Krav Maga at the Lawrence Family JCC. $250 I think, for 8 weeks, and then the price varies by session. UCSD Recreation probably has some karate/kung fu classes that community members can take.

I've heard good things about Krav Maga.

Anyone know a good karate/jiu jitsu joint in East Chula Vista? I need to get my 5 year old to do something else besides Minecraft after homework.

San diego is a serious hotbed for Brazilian jiu jitsu. Arguably the best place in the entire world, and arguably the most effective martial art for true self defense. If you are not familiar with it, it's like wrestling.
Anyway, you can find schools for much cheaper. Some have great kids programs, others not as good. IMO karate is kind of lame nowadays. Kids will thank you for doing something different.

By the way for the guy in south bay, Leticia Ribeiro has a school. Can't speak for their kids program, but heard she is great !

See if there is a local judo club...........judo is ancient BJJ MMA

Check the local city offerings...........my part of OC the city has martial arts for kids that are affordable.

Krav Maga is good in some areas like any MA, but it too situational.........if he does this you do that......like Karate........Judo has strikes, kicks, throws, locks, and a bit of wrestling. A judo club don't cost $300.

$300 is McDojo
