Well you got me curious. I did a crime stats map for IB for the last six months. There were 169 crimes committed in the city of IB within one mile of the beach between July 17 and today. For comparison purposes, I did a crime map of Ocean Beach. There were 480 crimes committed in OB during the same time period within approx 1 mile of the beach ). And, in Encinitas (again only within approx. one mile of the beach) there were 380 crimes committed. All Data is for July 17 2015 through today.

If you're curious about the types of crimes, and where they happened, and the time of day they occurred here's the list:

For IB (includes 1 square miles from the beach):

For OB (ione square mile from the beach): Crime report for 7/16/2015 - 1/12/2016

For Encinitas (1 mile from beach):

Also, just realized I've been calling the restaurant in the Marriott View 180. It is Sea 180. Brain fart.

Interesting website. Thanks for posting.

It seems like IB has a Vehicle/Theft Break -In Problem.

By the way your aren't missing a thing back East. Life is harder then ever on the East Coast. I am so much happier out here.

Actually, I count slightly more vehicle/theft break in's in Encinitas within 1 mile of the ocean than I do in IB. Might be more per capita in IB -- not sure of how the population densities in that radius compare.

But, what really caught my attention were the number of assaults in Ocean Beach. Years ago, OB was a sleepy area where folks just left each other alone. Not so anymore, apparently, at least according to the crime data from the last six months.

And, looks like drinking and drugs arrests are very active in all of the above areas.
