Please recommend a park with an ocean view in either Long Beach, Oceanside, or San Diego that I can reserve for a party. My 30th birthday is approaching and I'd like to reserve a park at a beach location for a small family gathering. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

How many people are you talking about when you say "a small family gathering"? Do you want to serve alcohol or barbeque? Most of the city beach parks in the city of San Diego don't allow alcohol.

In any case, start here: Park Use Permits and Applications | Park & Recreation

If it's a smallish gathering, any of the Mission Bay picnic areas would be nice. They have bay views, not ocean views, but would be a good option if your event is small. Kellogg Park, which is adjacent to La Jolla Shores beach would also be a good option. See the San Diego city parks website for more ideas and information about getting a permit.

I'm sure the cities of Oceanside and Long Beach have similar websites. Just google Oceanside Parks department and Long Beach parks department. You might also try googling San Diego County Parks for other ideas.

Happy birthday in advance!

I love tailgating at the fire pits on Fiesta Island. Much easier than the crowds and the headache finding parking at the beach. Alcohol is illegal but if one keeps inconspicuous no one will bother you unless your talking 25 plus people. If its a small group of 10 to 20 I doubt anyone would notice.

If it's a grassy park you want, I am partial to Kate Sessions, gotta love the views. I have seen weddings held here so I is permitted to have larger gatherings.
