Where are the major "auto miles", car dealers (both new and used) in SD congregated?
Which ones / areas are better or worse?
Thanks.

The big one is Mile of Cars in National City-EVERYONE is there (Google is your friend). There's also a bunch on Hotel Circle in Mission Valley. I only buy used cars on craigslist

The Kearny Mesa area off of 163 has a lot of car dealerships - BMW, Acura, etc.

In Carlsbad, Car Country Carlsbad - off I-5 (right by Legoland).

In Escondido - Auto Park Way off I-15.

Poway also has a "mile of cars" not sure of the name though.

Just one word of warning about the National City Mile of Cars. National City's sales tax is 8.75% compared to 7.75% elsewhere in San Diego county. If you do a deal in Nat'l City, make sure it's 1% cheaper than any deal could do elsewhere.

I've bought 2 cars different dealerships in National City and both turned out to be really shady deals. I can't even remember the first one, but the second one I bought a brand new (or so I thought) car that turned out to have been in an accident and it had been covered up. It was pointed out by a mechanic at the Carlsbad dealership when I brought it in for routine service. It may be coincidence, and I may have really bad luck, but I wouldn't go back to any of the dealerships there. I recommend Carlsbad, although the dealerships are a little more spread out (Porsche and Volvo are located in a different area, and I think Mossy Nissan and maybe Saturn is actually in Oceanside, on College).

What sort or dealerships are you interested in? In addition to the ones mentioned by others, there are some stand alone dealerships scattered around town. On Miramar Road is Pioneer Porshe and Range Rover/Land Rover of Miramar. There are also quite a few dealerships in Mission Valley along the 8 freeway.
