Yes, this may be a bad season. Lots of new growth in the spring every where in the county plus high temps early in the summer = fuel for fires.

And Potrero is only one of several wildfires already burning in the southwest.

According to the article below, there were also fires in San Marcos and Chula Vista yesterday.

Brush fires pop up in San Marcos, Chula Vista overnight - 10News.com KGTV ABC10 San Diego

The article doesn't mention it, but there was also a two acre brush fire in Rancho San Diego yesterday afternoon, near Monte Vista High School.
