I've deleted some friends because they started talking crazy stuff. You want to criticize the President, have at it.

However, if you want to say he's really a secret Kenyan muslim who will impose sharia law in his second term if he wins, I want nothing to do with you.

Yeah I had a friend who posted that America was turning Socialist because of Obamacare. There are so many Cons who try so hard to paint Obama as some sort of Socialist Muslim Dictator. They completely ignore their old boy George Bush. I think Obama is rather centrist. The right has just gone too far to the right and are whacko.

You have your peoples confused. A majority of republicans are moderate. A majority of democrats are liberal. Obama is no centrist (maybe compared to the Europeans). I myself am a moderate (many people when they first meet me automatically assume I am liberal for some reason).

BTW: a small majority of my fb friends are repub and pretty much only 1 or 2 of them voices their poltical views where as many of my left friends are currently going apesh** on Romney and Ryan and how they will rob them of their human rights.

some of them go as far as saying "delete me if you don't agree" which is a typical liberal tactic (when you talk and disagree with them, libs metaphorically put their fingers in their ears while saying "lalalalalalalala." Only tolerate those that agree.

The entire Democratic party has migrated to the right, and Republicans have migrated even further to the right to become a party for theocratists and pure laize-faire capitalists. True leftists look at Obama and laugh, and he's going to lose a lot of votes in the next election from leftists who are dissatisfied because he (and the entire Democratic party) has been only marginally better than having a Republican in office. Instead of taking the bullet train to being totally and completely screwed, we've hitched a ride on the slower train.

Damn glad I don't live in a battleground state. Just being subjected to ads from local campaigns is bad enough!

It seems like Michigan moved to "America's Finest City" (a lot of Michiganders, for some reason) who unfortunately blended the more ho-hum aspects of being Midwestern with the hey-wow-man NIMBY superficiality of Surfersville. This doesn't hold true across the board, but there was a definite pipeline between those 2 locations, and this dynamic is noticeable. When I was a teenager in LA and got my driver's license at 16, San Diego was the road trip of choice and I was too naive to notice social dynamics. After being around the block in life, I'm better able to get the pulse of a city more rapidly.

Tail gate party meets surf's up, basically. Boring.

How to be a good Republican:

1. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread because people are evil and should be punished.

2. You have to believe that the evolution is a myth that shouldn't be taught in schools, despite the evidence of biochemistry and the fossil record.

3. You have to believe that there is no causal link between legal, easily-obtainable handguns and high murder rates.

4. You have to believe that global temperatures are completely unaffected by fossil fuel emissions, that the best way to save the national forests is to allow logging companies to cut down old-growth timber, and the best way to save endangered species is to allow trophy hunters and wildlife traders to import more of them.

5. You have to believe that homosexuality is evil (despite the fact that it occurs in nature) and that women should stay at home to cook and bear children.

6. You have to be against abortion but support capital punishment.

7. You have to believe that businesses never purposely hurt anyone to make money.

8. You have to believe that hunting requires an automatic rifle.

9. You have to believe that inherited wealth is more important than actually doing something to earn it.

10. You have to believe that war is an acceptable solution to any economic or social problem.

11. You have to believe that everyone should support the troops - except when it comes to paying them.

12. You have to believe the NRA is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

13. You have to believe that taxes are for poor and middle class people, not the rich.

14. You have to believe that affirmative action is wrong, while still supporting discrimination against minorities.

15. You have to believe that Ann Coulter is normal and really a very nice person.

16. You have to believe that the only reason supply-side economics hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.

17. You have to believe liberals telling the truth belong in jail.

18. You have to believe that the Ten Commandments should be displayed in every public building regardless of the fact that not everyone in America is a Christian.

19. You have to believe that illegal Republican Party funding by corporations is somehow in the best interest of the United States.

20. You have to believe that the media are biased toward liberals, despite the fact that all the major media outlets are owned by ultra-rich conservative

And those are the kind of people who I want nothing to do with. You can criticize Obamacare for legitimate reasons.

Calling it socialism is not a legitimate reason and it shows you don't know what socialism means.

When the government takes over UnitedHealth, Carefirst, and all the other insurance companies, then it will be socialism. It's not socialism until the government owns the means of production.

You know what is socialism, though? All protective services. The military, police, and fire departments are all socialist.
