That leaves the coastal areas, or up north somewhere in CA. Some places are so far up north though-you know how CA is, HUGE!!

I'll keep researching and think about TEmecula/Murietta. I have to see what the school districts pay too. Here, they pay pretty well, but like I said, the insurance is really bad if you have children.
I would research the air quality issue pretty extensively before moving here. Riverside County is apparently pretty bad.

Riverside county is very large. There is no problem with smog in Murrieta/Temecula.

True about Riverside Co. The lack of smog isn't necessarily an indicator of good air quality though since you can't see everything.

Anecdotally a colleague of mine was convinced that another colleague had developed asthma after moving to Temecula because of dust from Camp Pendleton being carried there on the wind. I have no idea of the likelihood of this.

OP, try Googling temecula air quality site:www.city-data.com

One of the reasons why we chose Murrieta over Temecula was because of the afternoon wind in South Temecula. It had nothing to do with air quality but because I hate wind. This is only a problem in South Temecula along the 79. Central and North Temecula and all of Murrieta don't have this problem.
