How much do you figure this would cost a month for 1 person total? $50?? Trying to apartment search. Some places include this and others don't. Thanks

I never see places that don't include trash and sewage. I rarely see places that don't include water, but I guess that could be changing. Electricity tends to be the one that sometimes private landlords will pay. Maybe you're talking about when some listings say "utilities paid"?

I've never, in 35 years of renting, seen a rental where sewage wasn't paid. Sometimes (rarely) one pays for trash when renting a SFH, but you specifically asked about apartments. It's very, very unusual to find apartments where water isn't paid as well, because most complexes aren't built with seperate meters and the rental companies/landlords run into legal issues.

Tl;dr: I have no idea.

Bay Pointe pays for sewage and trash but you have to pay for water. My current apartment has a split tenant fee for trash, sewage, and water. Most independently ran apartments seem to pay everything except water when browsing CL.

I wonder if the water thing is a new trend since rates have gone up with the drought?

I think so. I lived out of state last year an the apartment used to include water but when the drought happened, they then had residents all split the fee.

I think complexes are just trying to get more $$$ out of people. 10 years ago I never saw pay rent. Maybe an additional deposit but not an extra $50 for a dog or cat.

I was told by a prospective landlord that it might range anywhere between $30-$50 a month. Some places in PB do not include this and the place I am planning to rent will have this shared between tenants. Not individual meters.

Bay Pointe is $25 for water, trash, and sewage. Reasonable. I'm currently paying around $50-$75 for this in La Mesa. I know it's not a ton of money but sometimes it could make a difference when trying to narrow down apartments that I like.

That's true. But I gave up narrowing down options. The rental market is way competitive. If an apartment has all my must haves like parking, laundry, and neighborhood, I apply right away even if it's like $50-$75 above my budget. That's how I found the apartment I signed the lease today. It's slightly above budget but it had the must haves and If I pass it up, I am not sure If I would find anything similar and I am exhausted house searching. Done deal now. Moving on.

Didn't get the apartment I wanted in Crown Point =( Someone had the application before me. I guess it worked out. The landlord (girl who lives on property and gave me the tour) was a dingbat. I had to regularly track her down to schedule a tour, question about applications, and to ask her if I got it =(
