Hey everyone, I am a 20's professional moving to the SD are next month. I am hoping to live in an area that is fairly walkable/bikeable and has plenty of people to meet/things to do close by. I am thinking Hillcrest/North Park or North PB, but I am worried that the commute up to Rancho Bernardo is going to be a killer. I was also looking at UTC but from what I have read/seen there is not as much going on there when compared to the other areas I mentioned.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Dan

Mira Mesa. Close enough to work. But close enough to uber to a social life.

Commute from central San Diego to Rancho Bernardo shouldn't be too bad, since it's mainly against the flow of heavy traffic. Possibly an easier commute from central San Diego than from UTC, although that commute also would be largely against the flow of heavy traffic. North PB, not so much because it's a slog to get to the freeway from north PB.

Only areas close is Mira Mesa and a little further is Kearny Mesa (both slanting more on asian side but enough of other things to have places to go). Still if you want a more bar scene, then yes, places you mentioned are the ones to try. Be aware that 15 is a bad commute, but 805 is infinitely worse.
