I too am from just outside of SA but have lived in SD since 2003. Here is a snap shot comparison of the two cities I took from the SD Union Tribune in 2008. The two cities are really nothing alike but they do have some similarities.
I always knew TX was better for buying a house and low cost of living, but when you see the average cost to buy a house between the 2 cities, it's like OMG
