I recall around the early 1990s, the eastern part of Paradise Valley/Paradise Hills suddenly became "Bay Terraces". Nobody who lives there refers to the area as Bay Terraces. Most people there say "Paradise Hills" or "Paradise Valley".

To offer an actual example of where the City of San Diego actually combined place names, there is Bay Terraces' "Skyline Hills Library" (which was totally rebuilt and is amazing). "Skyline Hills" is a totally made up place name and an apparent combination of "Paradise Hills" and "Skyline".

I know it's not particularly "new" but 4S Ranch always intrigued me. It's an upscale community near Ranch Bernardo that is like an updated, less established, and more sterile version of RB. Not much character to the place but the homes there are very expensive.

I live in Shelltown. Shelltown is a neighborhood within Barrio Logan, and it's not a new area.
