You might want to ask a more specific question given that a UC school could have well over a hundred programs.

I would share my insights from many years of working with thousands of students who attended UC campuses (and other colleges) but since you feel I have too much time on my hands, I will use my time in more productive ways.

I will however direct you to the excellent UC admissions site which does a good job of summarizing what each campus sees as its unique undergraduate programs and strengths: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/campuses/ The websites of each UC campuses also have reams of information about undergraduate programs.

That said every student is different, and what is a strength for one student may be a weakness for another, so in the end the only way for an individual student to answer this question is to start with themselves. How do they learn best? What are their academic interests? What type of campus social culture/environment will be a good match for their personality (because if you're not happy at a school socially, you probably won't be making the most of the academic programs, no matter how wonderful they are). While many kids apply to all of the UCs (the UC application makes it simple enough to do so), nearly every student will find that certain UCs resonate more strongly with their interests, learning style and personality.

So ultimately, the best answers to your questions depends on the individual student.

Have a good weekend, Bloom.
