Yeah I wouldn't go that far either but it is my favorite north county city and about the only one I would consider living in if I was looking to get away from the city. We have great friends that live up there and frequently take the train up there to have cocktails on their deck looking over the ocean at a nice sunset and then head on down to Union Kitchen & Tap for a great meal and party with the locals.

I like Encinitas. Has that upscale SoCal beach vibe with some classic grittiness worked in. Close to a lot of other beach cities along the 1. Even living further inland, it's presently near the top of my relocation choices in San Diego County. I would stop short of calling Encinitas paradise, but as long as I had a reasonable commute, it would be worth it for me to make living there work.

I moved to Encinitas two years ago from Point Loma. San Diego is falling apart. The streets, water lines, sewer lines and all the fools think about is building a new sports stadium. Mindless dolts. After 64 years I had had enough.

The reason places like Lucadia and Encinitas have become so expensive is L.A. folk have come down,
the crime in smell A is horrible.........solidifying the old saying "it's better to be homeless in San Diego than have a job in L.A"

Still in the construction trade..........it ain't stoppin'. Remodels galore, .5 acre lots selling for gobs of money and the owners are putting in another 400K.

If I was going to live somewhere else it would be inland.......the coastal area is o.k but once the sun goes down you can't see anything anyway..........so what's the diff? I like east Temecula

If you are going to live 1 -2 hours inland you may as well live in AZ where it's much cheaper.

For the most part I agree with this.

The OP reeks of butt hurt over being priced out of Encinitas
