Anyone tried Betty's Whole Pie in Encinitas ?

As a New Yorker I will tell you that NOBODY beats Tony's NY Pizza in Tijuana. Tony is from NYC.

Yep. A touch pricey, but the chicken pie I had was generously sized and much tastier than either of the chicken pie shops. I'd call it a good value for money. (I forget what DH had, that he said was OK but probably not worth buying again.)

Mama Kat's in San Marcos has a lot of pies available, but I never tried them not a big pie person it's one of those once a year if that things. We don't got there often, they are quite pricy and it's often too crowded on the weekends with bad parking to be worth it.

There is another one we heard of but have not tried yet as well:

Debbie's Home

While Julian pie is super expensive, it is mighty tasty! I splurge on it once a while but it is not worth the cost compared to less expensive apple pies that local church ladies bake.

Julian's a long way to drive for pie. I've seen it sold here but it's usually stale.

Then there's The Pie Shop just off Tamarack on Pio Pico in Carlsbad. Nice breakfast place too. Similar to Mama Kat's in San Marcos that was mentioned and I also like but prefer the Pie Shop's pies and pastry.(also not a long wait like at Mama Kat's)

If you're up in North County, try Del Mar Pizza. Transplanted NYer. Better than 90% of the pizza I ate in NY. Bonus: they deliver right to the beach.

Did not know this thread was about Pizza Pies, but I heard about that place but the parking is limited. I found a lot of pizza here to be quite bad, being from the Northeast originally, but we found a few that are good. The Crust in Carlsbad and a few others here and there, more artisan Pizza not a traditional thin NY Style. Tried Rosatti's Deep Dish in Encinitas and it wasn't great, not that we care for Deep Dish anyways.

Cut back on the pizza trying to reduce refined grains, and carbs so it's only a once and a while thing for us.

YES! Betty's (I think it is called Betty's Pie Whole...haha) is great---so yummy. There is also Elizabethan Desserts in Encinitas as well but I think their pies are more seasonal (fall). Now, I am hungry for pie!

Anyone been to Pop Pie Co. in University Heights yet? It's on my places to go, but haven't gone yet. Heard good things about it.
