I heard on the news that our mayor has vetoed the council and the special election is back on for November. I think I heard a $5 million number mentioned. Someone refresh my memory what this election is for...I think one item is the MLS/stadium situation???

So what does this mean in a practical sense?

Is the MLS plan dead because supposedly the "league needs the deal approved this year"?

Where else would MLS go that meets their expansion needs and timeline and has city support?

$5M seems like a lot of money to spend on an election, but on the other hand what are the carrying costs per year for the city?

If I understand, today, council voted to leave things to late '18, which is too late for Soccer City SD's needs. However, somebody interviewed on NBC 7 just now said (I think) that there is a chance council could vote again on whether to have a vote this year.

Or something. Politicalspeak is confusing at times.

Nice...you guys can get:

An expanded convention center;
Roads fixed ('cause there isn't money for that until you pay for other stuff);
Housing for the San Diego homeless, who, once they have homes paid for by you, will no longer have any problems; and
Soccer City WOW!

Why don't you guys just extend the trolley to Temecula to facilitate long commuting that then stops in Escondido and down to El Cajun (yes, Cajun)...then add an ice (curling) stadium, a cricket field and a Jai alai WOW court?

No one wants anymore special elections. The city is doing the right thing for once. No taxpayer subsidized stadiums. Either find a private backer or turn it into more housing, that's what everyone wants, right?
