This is really helpful! I guess I would say we are looking for a 3 bedroom townhome or house for around $1800 or less?

Are all of you LDS? Wow! It is going to be SO nice to be so close to a temple for us. Oh and did I mention we are sick of snow?!

hmmm...lets see a three bedroom home or townhome for 1800 or less...I think you can find something like that here, although maybe not as close to La jolla as you would like...I know you mentioned you were looking in mira mesa, you can def. find a three bedroom home in mira mesa for under 1800. I cant remember if you said you had kids.....the schools are not the greatest in the world there. Um, I am not sure what the rental scene is like in poway....scripps ranch is generally pretty expensive....In addition to looking in poway I would also look in Rancho penisquitos, and rancho bernardo. Then you will have a better chance of finding something you like in your price range. Plus all the schools in those areas are pretty good. Like I said, the only down side I see for you would be the commute....anyway good luck!

Ya, the 2 Ranchos you mentioned are sort of what we are shooting for. It is so everwhelming though not really knowing anything about the area and things!

1800 or less won't be easy, I'd say Rancho Bernardo or Poway might be doable but the commute will be at least 30 min. Maybe Carmel Mountain Ranch.

I can imagine. But overall those areas really are very family orientated with a lot of nice people, and sort of in the more country part of San Diego. I think you will like any of those spots. Plus, if you are really nervous about the area, or arnt going to get a chance to see it before you move, you can always shoot for a 6 months lease or less.....But as those are nice areas I would not worry too much. Just look into the commute.

Also look into Solana Beach for rentals, since they are fairly abundant there. I think that is part of the Del Mar Ward, but I'm not sure. When I lived in that area I was single, so I know all the YSA wards. Let me know if you need help searching

We are also LDS, four kids, possibly moving to San Diego! Please let me know if the area you chose worked well for you! We are moving from Virginia so are doing it all long distance.
