Yup, exactly. I am not sure if I even had a phone back then? Hmmmmm.....The overwhelming smoke in Oceanside pretty much told you to runnnnnnn! LOL

I will say on a lighter note, that week was still some of the best surf I have had ANYWHERE. My friends and I had no other choice but to surf everyday. Work was shut down and so was the town and we could not really evac. The air in the water was surprisingly better because the smoke stayed above it about 100 feet, so we could actually breathe. We had 6 hour plus sessions for 5-6 days and the waves just wouldn't stop. Anyways, not to disrespect those who lost homes and livelihoods. We just had no other real choice but to go surfing, so we did. Oh, there was NO ONE in the water or at the beaches either. It felt like the apocalypse had happened.

Has anyone in North County been through the burn area yet? I'd love a first hand report on how bad things actually are on the ground.
