I can tell the sound of a firework, but I definitely have a hunch that I heard 4 actual gunshots shortly after midnight.

Dingbats.

I bring the kids to the family ranch in Texas to celebrate New Years eve, where fireworks are legal. Fireworks in SD are a no go, it is to risky and the fire dangers are real. Even the ground fireworks like, Black-cat Firecrackers, scare folks in SD and with good reason.

Found some bullets stuck in the asphalt in a parking lot. They come down with more force than I expected. Enough to mushroom full metal jacket.

^^ I suppose shooting at the ground is much safer than shooting up in the air. Over here in rural Tx, I heard a few semi-automatic rifle shots the night of New Years eve off in the distance, the sound is much different than a hand gun, shotgun and certainly firecrackers. I'm not a gun expert but my guess is AR15s. Hopefully they weren't shooting up in the air but it's pretty spread out so who knows.

Happy 2018 all!

These were bullets that were fired into the air They had enough force left to stick into the street.
