I have previously lived in LA/Miami/DC and I loved the nightlife, diversity and progression of the cities! Would SD be simular people as you would see in a nightclub in LA/Miami??...Is it more layed back people? I am trying to get an image of the lifestyle/partys and public! (?)

Thanks
L*

San Diego has a small nightlife seen but you would think it would be a lot bigger. There's PB,TJ(MEX)and DTWN's Gaslamp.Other than that not much nightlife here.I have a cousin who lived just outside of Vegas and now lives in Miami. He call's SD "Turtle Town" because the nightlife here is just not a major thing. We are known to be very laid back so it won't live up to a Miami,a Vegas or a NYC.

Yeah PB is good for the younger crowd...Gaslamp is a great time, there is alot to choose from down there, Carlsbad has a few down there, smaller though. Oceanside has crap, Encinitas had Martini Ranch, but they changed the name to D street bar or something. Theres plenty around imo

Turtle town? LOL, that's a new one. Ask your cousin how the nightlife is in Vegas, off of the Strip and outside of the big hotels. That's Vegas, for you.

Are you even old enough to go to bars and clubs to be an expert on SD's nighlife?

That said, someone would certainly be disappointed if they moved to SD simply for it's nightlife. Last call in CA is 1:30am, with most bars/clubs closing at 2:00am (though there are a some afterhours places that stay open later).

Despite the early closing times, there is a good variety of scenes to be found here, from pretentious $25 cover charges (Stingaree, On Broadway, Belo, Envy at The Ivy), hipster joints (Beauty Bar, Zombie, Airport, Starlite, Casbah, Nunu's, LiveWire, U-31, Pink Elephant), gay bars (Rich's, Lei, Bourbon Street, The Flame, Numbers), chill lounges (The W, Sweetwater Saloon and Moonstone at HardRock, JSix at Solamar, Basic, The Keating, The Fleetwood), townie bars (Rosie O'grady's, Ould Sod, Lamplighter) and surf bars in PB, OB and MB.

Check out this link to a nightlife/social mag we have in town for more info. It may put some off, but you can see what kind of folks you may run into

Funny Huh?He calls a lot of cities like that because he grew up around a place like Vegas.(Just 4 You) I'm talking to him right now and he says that nightlife off the strip is not a major thing but there's more "life" around the Valley.Places like The Orleans,Sam's Town, and Suncoast have things even if your 18+ every now and then.I'm not old enough(almost) but I have plenty of friends who are 21+ and say "it could be better".
