I attended Clairemont's Town Council meeting last nite. Dave Myers, a candidate for sheriff, spoke for about 10 minutes. Without anyone asking, he admitted he's gay. But Dave's position on gun control, CCWs, etc was a little hard to figure out. Like most politicians, he answered questions with lots of vague terms.

Anybody know Dave Myers position on gun control? He says he's a Democrat but I hear the gun groups around town endorse him.

Dave's own web site gives his views on his proposed CCW policy. Below is a link to a PDF on his website with a more extensive explanation. I could not find anywhere on his site where he talks about "gun control". That's a nebulous term and can have many meanings.

Now I see it. Dave Myers is endorsed by San Diego County Gun Owners, a political organization . That's what I was looking for.

To me, gun controls mean things like teachers carrying guns, metal detectors at school entrances, armed guards at public functions, gun transportation in cars, the ownership of military-style weapons etc.

Speaking like a politician, Gore claims "Maybe we can loosen things up a bit". Knowing the guy, no way will that ever happen so he needs to go. Everyone knows it's a waste of time and money applying for a CCW permit in SD County.

The San Diego Democrats support Dave Myers. The San Diego Republicans support no one. Seems a little odd. Hasta la vista Gore?

Presumably, that would apply to anyone who generously donates to his re-election campaign fund

With the incumbent position, even with the current issues, Gore will win handily by at least twenty points. At least. I'd love to see him go... I do not believe he will ever reform CCW issuance. He already had his chance / excuse with the Peruta decision by the three-judge panel of the 9th... he could have just started issuing with that as his fig leaf. He didn't. I firmly believe he's an elitist who cares nothing for average people... he, his buddies, his coworkers, and those who have ingratiated themselves to him are effectively supercitizens, and he's completely happy with that.

I'll vote for literally anyone other than Gore who promises to issue CCWs with "self defense" or "Constitutional right" as "good cause".
