My wife’s bmw with less than 100k miles Overheated in the desert. Thermostat and water pump had gone out. That shouldn’t happen on a car with less than 100 K miles. My buddy bought a used one and part of his glove box started to peel off. Also hard to believe considering how much you spend on them. I’ve had cars that were much cheaper and never had problems such as those. BMW seem like total garbage to me and not worth the high cost. But hey I guess if you like spending a lot of money to buy them and then spending more money to keep them up more power to you. Doesn’t seem to make good financial sense but whatever .

My old friends sold their cottage type house of 30 years, last week, 1350 sq ft, in Point Loma. Ask was 1.2, sold for 1.3.
Five all cash offers in one week of listing. Why? Very low inventory.

Much of the money is coming from L.A as those folks have had a gut full and want out. I can't blame em'

Seen the prices of Encinitas lately? Oh heck.......I guess the word prices would apply to many areas. Unbelievable.

Our new BMW (we've had 1 month) is a 2018 X3 M40i. It replaced an older SUV that we had for 11 years and were ready to replace and downsize. It is awesome in every way and was not expensive.
55 grand for a small crossover isn't expensive? It can barely tow any weight. Good on you if that is not expensive but 55 grand for basically a mid size car is expensive to most.

We have BMWs because my husband is a Bimmer technician who owns an independent shop. Ours are 10+ years old and some have over 200K miles; they keep going remarkably well and you can't call them garbage. But we would never, never buy a new one and can't agree more that you are just throwing money away by doing that.

You are right they are not bad cars and I did use the word "Junk". However there are many other cars that cost less that are equal or better and offer the same amenity as a BMW. They are simply overrated to get more money for them. People like to be seen in a BMW even when to many it says they threw away money. Ego drives a lot of the sales.

Kina the same thing with granite counter tops, etc. Such added cost items drive the costs up as well. Thank HGTV.

Since this is a housing price thread one more comment and then I'll stop.

You can go through life quite nicely with Formica counters and driving cars with no bells and whistles because it's cheap. But if you have the money for new kitchen cabinets with under cabinet lighting, granite countertops with stainless steel appliances and fancier, faster cars than you need, why not .

Fyi my 2018 X3 M40i is rated at 355HP. One of BMW s most underrated ever. It has been tested at 355HP at the wheels and 445HP at the crankshaft, is all wheel drive and exceeds the mileage estimate by a good bit.

Also before bashing BMW look at the crash test videos / results and compare it to a Ford Explorer or Mercedes GLC, then tell me which you would rather be riding in.

Driven by insecurity. People need emblems to make their small selves feel bigger.

So all owners of anything better than what you have are insecure? All righty then.

I drove a GMC truck for 8 years and still have it too, I think you better look in the mirror of you are searching for something.

If you have the money, buy as you wish. Many lease or even rent for a weekend to be seen in one. Others lease or buy when it is right at the limit of their budget to be seen in one.

Now the HP is nice but rarely a major issue in normal driving and 4 wheel drive has advantages but again rarely of benefit. If you like it enjoy it.

Crash tests are nice, but there are many less expensive cars that offer good protection.

I am not simply bashing BMW'S rather in most cases their over valuation, as well as the ego driven need that causes many to acquire them.

Note I am heavily involved in the Automotive industry so am not speaking from a lack of knowledge. I have created technology used and specified in most fields, not just automotive.
