OK, so it looks like we might get a break from the rain for a week or so. Still cold but looks crystal clear outside. I may try to get the kayak on the water and see what I can pull up.

That’s what Washington and Oregon are for ...

I've been wearing a sweater all but maybe four days out of the last 7 weeks. I wouldn't mind it warming up a little bit now, but the sunshine is beautiful at the moment, and it's all so great for the environment that I'm not complaining!

I had ice on the windshield when I got in the truck this morning at 7am. The temp said 37 degrees. I believe it. It was cold but I still got out to play some golf today. It warmed up pretty decent as the morning sun got out in front of the mountains.

Not in the past. It used to rain far more regularly when I was growing up and as kids we all had rain coats year round. It has gone drier.

Rain coats year round? Here, in San Diego?

How long ago was this? I grew up in Orange County and it has never rained year-round in my time. I recall a summer thunderstorm when I was about 7, so maybe 1976. I had a friend over and my older sister told us to put on swimsuits and go out and play in the warm rain. I remember it so clearly because it never happened again. It normally did NOT rain in the summer, or any time from May to October.

I also clearly remember a concerning drought during my early years, and another in my early 20s, so around the early 1990s. Neither was so prolonged as the one we went through recently, but this last one was hardly the first worrisome drought.

I have lived 49 out the 52 years of my life in San Diego. I do not recall any period of time when you needed a raincoat year round.
