Everything worked out really well. I had absolutely no problems getting a driver/uber. It took the driver less than 6 minutes to get to my hotel in San Diego and the cost was only $92.00 to Temecula.

And I'm sure that the driver didn't get a fare going back to San Diego, either, so the driver technically made very little from that. Greyhound would have been much cheaper.

I had the pleasure of getting picked up, right in front of the hotel that I was staying at in San Diego, and dropped off, at the entrance of the resort/spa that I stayed at while in Temecula. The fee wasn't a big deal at all. Also, the ride wasn't as long as I expected.

The fee wasn't a big deal to you, but the driver had to drive back to San Diego from Temecula without a fare to compensate for the drive.

There's nothing wrong with Greyhound, and you would have saved money.

You have no way of knowing if he got a fare back to San Diego or not, plus no one forced him to go to Temecula. I don’t know what percent the drivers make but I’ve heard 75%. If they had a hybrid it’d be less than $10 in gas and they would make about $60 after Uber’s cut. Not bad for 2-2.5 hours of work.

Glad to hear this!

The driver doesn't know where the passenger is going until they get into the car. I have a neighbor that drives for Lyft, that's what he said, and I'm sure that Uber is the same way He said if he got stuck driving someone to Temecula, he'd be really pissed, too.

I don't know what percentage the Lyft drivers get, but Uber drivers get 80%. I have a co-worker that drives for Uber sometimes, and he says that he sets his boundaries, because he lives in El Cajon, and won't go any farther than that.

They don't get a choice. I've never had a problem getting Uber or Lyft to go long distances. I've gotten rides from LAX to Oceanside. Especially with Uber, once they accept a ride, if it winds up being out of their way, tough. They can cancel and take a hit, I think, but they cannot pick and choose. Lyft sounds like they'll let you get rides going roughly the way you want to go.

Get to the Greyhound station, sit and wait, get on the bus, be surrounded by bus people, making other stops... yup, sounds "cheap" to me. I'd get Uber/Lyft every day of the week. My time is worth a lot more to me than a few bucks.

Tough. That's the gig. Their job is literally to drive me to where I need to go... so sorry if that's an inconvenience!
