I just got a Traeger Grill. I am looking for opinions for steaks to BBQ.

I am curious about Sant Fe Meats...and how early should I buy steaks for next weekend since it is Super Bowl weekend?

TIA

I've heard that Heart and Trotter is really good, and also very expensive.

Siesel’s in Bay Park along with their sister location Iowa Meats in Allied Gardens have always been my go to for unique and/or high end meats.

They are expensive but at least you don't get soup bones for ribs like the local big 3 try and play off. Grocery store butchers will place a nice looking rack of ribs over one that is almost entirely bone, hiding it until the package is opened.

Lol, so true. I stopped buying most packaged meats off the rack at the grocery stores and go to the counter instead because of this. It’s the same price and you can pick and choose, well worth the wait if there’s people ahead of you. Always buy your bacon at the counter. It’ll actually be cheaper than the major brands and so much better.

Siesel's also gets my vote. We have driven from Jamul to Bay Park when we want a really good cut of meat for special occasions. I'll have to try the Allied Gardens butcher suggestion - we've driven by many times but never went in. Thanks TacoSoup!

That said, we have had pretty good luck just asking the meat counter of our local Albertson's if they could special order something we want for us. It seems to avoid the "bones" problem.

In terms of when to buy for the Superbowl, while steaks will hold for up to five days in the refrigerator, I always find they taste best if they're cooked within a day or two of purchase. But that' just my personal preference.

Another vote for Siesels.

Whether it's ribeye, new york strip, a xmas rib roast, thick bone-in pork chops, or their phenomenally good chorizo; when it comes to dropping some extra coin on good meat Siesels is my go to butcher!

You can get very high quality prime beef at Costco for a lot less than IMF

Seisels. I love their market items as well and their seasonings and marinades. Very easy to drop some coin in there.

Bishers gets my overrated vote.

And don’t laugh but Food4Less has come through for me consistently- and of course it is cheaper too.

First year that I didn’t preorder my turkey from Siesels and I got a great fresh bird at Sprouts haven’t tried any of their other meat.
