Advertisements

Just got some advertisement of some type of billing options based on use. Up till now I didn't realize how much money we throw annually at this near monopoly. Nearly 4,000 US dollars

What do you give them yearly?

My solar setup can't get here soon enough.

SDGE gets less than $400 a year from me.

I don't have A/C and I don't turn my heat on during the winter.

I'm not sure annually, but it is cheaper than we paid when we lived in the San Gabriel Valley, and our condo is bigger here!

My bill went up %300 from November to January. Don't use A/C or heat, 600 sq ft unit. No clue why I'm paying this much.

4K annually seems excessive for a home.

In 2018, we paid the monopoly known as San Diego Gas and Electric $1,402 dollars with my min being $65 in May and my max being $263 in August. This is for my 5 bedroom 3K square foot home inhabited by two adults and four children all 10 and under and someone is always home except when we leave town as a family usually 5 weeks per year.

I would guess that in August, when it was incredibly humid, we used our AC for three weeks and perhaps ran it for two more weeks in Sept. We have not turned on the heat in over three years now.

I may need to look into solar panels as well being that my average bill last year was $116 per month.

$960.00/year but I live alone with 3 cats and I do not use my heater and there is no a/c.

$60 for gas monthly (heat, cooking, dryer) and nada for electric. We just installed solar panels and we check usage on the website daily and so far, they will be owing us money at the end of the year even with all the rain. Who knew?

In our $2,500 sq. ft. 3 floor townhouse rental, we paid roughly $50 per month on electric/gas. We didn't need heat last winter since it was so mild and we only turned on aircon for 1 month during the heatwave.

During the summer months, we cover all windows during the day then open all windows and sliding doors at night so the house cools off. Our home temp. was roughly 77/78 degrees even when it was in the 80s/90s during the days.

Conversely in winter, we let all the sunlight in during the day and cover all windows at night.

We moved into a 4,000 sq. ft. home and it's still working for us.

In January, our gas bill was $200. My wife loves our gas fireplaces in the winter. Our electric bill was zero. Hopefully, our gas bill will drop to about $20 once it warms up.

2018: $3,290 to SDG&E. Monthly average for gas & electric: $274.
Located near Poway/Rancho Bernardo border, 2,500 sq. ft. home, vaulted ceilings in some areas. 45 year old home not insulated that well. I do run the heat at 68F in the winter and the A/C in the summer 78-80F. Its expensive...

SDG&E is currently transitioning (forcing) customers into the new time-of-use plans, which charge a kwh rate more expensive than Oahu from 4-9 PM. This will no doubt be a huge news topic once the hot late summer comes around and people fire up the AC.

Solar without a Tesla-type battery storage system will soon be devalued worse than the 1982 Mexican peso.
