Relocating from New Jersey and zeroed in on San Marcos as a place that balances housing costs, location and safety rather nicely.

I am having trouble locating more localized information on an area. The road name is Vista Colina - it has some very nice houses on it. Can anyone comment on what ‘area’/neighborhood this is? What should i be searching for? It seems close to Lake San Marcos but I find nothing else about neighboring areas.

If you are familiar with the area and know the history of the area, feel free to share. I am all ears.

Thanks in advance and look forward to being neighbors soon.

Best,

Justin

Justin,
I'm mildly familiar with San Marcos. Vista Colina Dr has some very nice homes.

However, the big question is: Where is your source in income? If you work in downtown San Diego, you will hate San Marcos. You'd be looking at a 1 hour commute one-way. If you work at home, San Marcos is the perfect place to live.

I live near Mission Bay. Most of my work is in the Mission Bay area. If someone said to me "I'll meet you in San Marcos...", I'll probably say "No way. Come to Mission Bay and I'll buy lunch."

No one likes a long commute. There are better things to do in San Diego than drive our congested freeways.

Hi,

cruitr always makes valid points so definitely things to consider.

Vista Colina is located in 'the hills' of San Marcos up above beautiful Lake San Marcos (which is predominately a 55+ community). Most of Vista Colina is/were land lots. Some call it Discovery Hills or above the lake. Of the lots that were sold, custom homes have been built on them and it appears that another lot is listed for sale. It is a good location with access to schools, restaurants and shopping--you just have to drive 'down the hill'.. I hope this info helps!
