Useful resource for parents looking at San Diego area schools (buying, public schools)

The Voice of San Diego has just published a free guide to San Diego County public schools (including charter schools).

The guide provides a good snapshot of how all of the public schools in the County compare on things like test scores, graduation rates, AP testing, and other factors.

The information is a good starting point for an initial look at public school options in the County. Parents, will of course, want to do their own more detailed evaluation of individual schools in order to decide on the best choices for their children's specific needs. The guide also has a handy starter list of of questions to ask schools when you visit to help you do that.

Thanks Rosie. While we still have several years to worry about this, it’s never too early to get a head start. We made sure the schools were good enough if we chose/had to stay in our first home, but really didn’t dig any deeper than looking at ratings before buying. I just spent the last 20 minutes perusing this and and had to take a break to thank you. It’s very informative, and thorough. I highly recommend a read for parents, and especially future parents. I’m already learning a lot. Thanks again.
