Thought this was an interesting article about a Bon Appetite magazine editor's favorite restaurant, which is in San Diego. She makes it sound like this is the only reason she visits San Diego.

I'm not sure I would choose that particular restaurant as my favorite in the world, let alone San Diego.
So, that got me curious: What's
your favorite restaurant in San Diego, the one you would fly across the country to eat at if it wasn't in your own backyard?
I have a few ideas, but I'll let others start the list.

Buona Forchetta (South Park/Liberty Station) and they've added a few more locations. Mister A's . I'd go there again for really special occasions. Rocky's Crown Point . I make it a point to stop in when I'm in the area.

You must understand that back East strip malls are a sign of low income areas. When I first moved to SD I was blown away at the prices that some of these strip mall locations charged for food.....then I realized EVERYTHING is located in a strip mall in SD. it took a long time for me to get that.

Yeah, especially for ethnic, even regional American foods, strip malls are often where the best quality offerings can be found here. Even some food truck venues can blow you away.

Correction: Typical provincial New Yorker snob.
A native New Yorker once told me that the most provincial people are native New Yorkers since they think that NY is the be all and end all, they rarely venture out with an open mind.

Haven't eaten at Costco in years but really enjoy El Jardin. Great place, but not the best in SD. However, probably a unique cuisine for a New Yorker.
