All you need is proof that your dog has had its vaccinations. That's it. You can also post your question or search for it on Baja Nomad - Taking You Back to Baja!. The subject has been brought up many times, and the answer is always what I've posted.

Looking at all of the links that Rosie has posted is unnecessary.

What type of "proof" of vaccinations is acceptable to both Mexican and US border officials?

What type of proof of vaccinations is acceptable to both Mexican and US border officials? What vaccinations do dogs need to be current on?

Rabies. Answers to any and all questions can be found on here by searching or asking. http://www.bajanomad.com/ I have friends that rescue dogs from Mexico, so they should know, and that's what they've told me. Also, there are FB groups for Mexico where the same answer can be found. But if the OP is still in doubt, he can email these two organizations. http://www.bajaanimalsanctuary.org/, and http://bajadogrescue.org. If the questions are still unanswered, he can email the rescues directly.

Just a few of them are:

https://www.redbarnrescue.org/

And the podcast about crossing dogs:

Actually, you need proof of more than a rabies vaccination. And you didn't explain what "proof" is acceptable.

People can either spend hours looking through online forums for advice from strangers, or they can just read the official information from the U.S. and Mexican governments.

The choice is up to the individual, of course, but when in doubt, I'd save time and worry at the border and just go with the CURRENT official government information.

It's only necessary to do what the dog rescues do. They go by the current information and cross every week. I have two co-workers that run a dog rescue out of their house in Tijuana, and they say the same thing.

Also, it's very rare that CBP asks for proof of vaccination. Since it's Saturday, I'm sure that the OP has already crossed, and maybe when he gets back he'll provide an update.

Yup, the border is unpredictable. There are many things that "should" be officially verified by CBP, sometimes they are and sometimes they aren't, it just depends on the CBP officer. In any case, it's better to be prepared with all necessary documents just in case.

Officially, CBP's mission is to "facilitate lawful international travel and trade." but many times it feels like the exact opposite.

Or child substitutes as seems to be the case the last twenty years or so. American "pet parents" have kind of gone off the deep end where dogs are concerned.

Inside of Mexico all you need is the 'green super license', which means bring US $20 bills to pay penalty for minor infractions on the spot, wink wink.

You can roll your eyes on down the road BC. I am a confirmed "Pet Parent" and would have no interest in raising an actual "child" in this life or the next. My female yorkie gives me plenty of love, cuddles, and I doubt she would sneak out at midnight to meet her doggy friends on the corner.
