In 2014 my company did a market analysis comparing wages and cost of living, the end result was that every employee received a salary increase based on this study.

With rents and home prices increasing to an all time high in San Diego, I am curious if any other companies have done this recently? If not, have you personally leveraged the skyrocketing rents/home prices to negotiate a salary increase with your employer?

Please feel free to share.

We continuously analyze market rates against internal metrics. It's a great time to be a job seeker in biotech/life sciences!

This is what I am trying to get at, is the best way to get a significant pay bump always to jump ship and move to another organization? I'm sure it depends on job type and the industry.

Looking for diverse opinions.

Overall I have seen starting salaries creep up and higher turnover as CoL has risen and in many cases outpaced wage growth. My industry (digital / web / marketing) still has depressed wages compared to tech / biotech etc.
